WEEK 4: MEDTECH + ART
Medical technologies have always fascinating me with all their high-tech machinery that can do things I never knew were even possible. I feel like there is so many different medical technology that the average person does not know about unless they have had to deal with it or seen it in or movie or something. One of the things that stood out to me the most from the lectures was how the the Human project which took two real humans, a man and women, and cut them in really thin slices and and digitized them in order to help with medical and scientific research.
Another thing that really catches my attention and has always fascinated me was the ability for plastic surgeons to complete redo someones face or part of their body that they either don't like and or need redone do to some accident. The queens of plastic surgery also know as the Kardashians became really famous due to their incredible bodies that they were able to attain due to plastic surgery. Plastic surgeons can either create a master piece or completely ruin someones body if not done properly. One of the medical technologies that I will personally look to come in contact with is an eye refactor machine in order to get LASIK surgery in order to better my vision. LASIK works by the doctor being able to reshape part of your cornea using a laser that after healed will better vision. Wearing glass and contacts can get old fast and having the opportunity to be able to get this surgery and completely change my vision to not need them is a must.IEEE Pulse. “The Visible Human Project.” IEEE Pulse, IEEE Pulse //Www.embs.org/Pulse/Wp-Content/Uploads/Sites/13/2022/06/Ieee-Pulse-logo2x.Png, 22 June 2022, https://www.embs.org/pulse/articles/visible-human-project/.
